How we handle your information.
This policy explains what personal information Blackacre Title Agency Corp. collects in the course of a title or closing transaction, how we use it, and how we protect it.
Information we collect
Our business is title insurance and real estate settlement services. As an authorized agent of Old Republic National Title Insurance Company, we collect information needed to prepare title reports, issue title insurance policies and complete closings. This includes:
- Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
- Details about your transaction, such as the address of the property you are buying, selling or financing.
- Copies of deeds, notes, mortgages and other liens or documents connected to the property or transaction.
- Information from public records about the property, which we need to prepare a title report and policy.
- Social Security numbers or taxpayer identification numbers of the parties, where required for the closing or for tax reporting.
- Where needed to complete the transaction, copies of appraisals, surveys, payoff letters, credit information or escrow account balances.
We may receive this information directly from you, or from your lender, attorney, real estate broker or other parties to the transaction.
How we use your information
We use your information only to provide title, closing and related services for your transaction and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with marketers.
We treat nonpublic personal information as confidential. We share it only with parties who need it to complete your transaction, such as our underwriter, your lender, the attorneys involved and government recording offices; when you authorize us to; or when the law permits or requires us to.
How we protect your information
- We limit access to nonpublic personal information to employees and service providers who need it to serve you.
- We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with applicable law.
- We train our employees on this policy and require the same care from those who work with us.
This website
This website does not use forms, accounts, advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not collect personal information through it. Like any website, our hosting provider may record basic technical data, such as IP addresses and pages visited, to operate and secure the site. Text on this site is displayed using Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address when the page loads. If you email us, we use your message only to respond to you.
Why we provide this notice
Title V of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act requires financial institutions, including title insurance agents, to explain their privacy practices to the people they do business with.
